Following up on my plan to use an old receiver as the basis for my homebrew receiver I bought a Drake R4C, T4XC, and speaker for $200 at a hamfest last weekend. Given my earlier analysis that showed that the receiver alone is worth more than $400 as parts, I think I did ok. The receiver has some problems and I haven't tried out the transmitter yet but I intend to rebuild much of the receiver and all of the transmitter anyway. I'm wondering if there is/was a service manual on the Drake 4-line? I can probably get everything I need from the owners manual but an original service manual might come in handy when trying to determine the detailed specifications for some of the parts.
