Klingon Academy 1.02 Patch
Starting A K9 Program. Well, I just happened to wet my pants today when I discovered the wonderful work of a fellow named KOMAT. He's created three patches for Klingon Academy that allow it to run perfectly on modern systems.
A new DX wrapper, a resolution enabler, and multicore CPU crash-preventer. I'm about to graduate, and I've not had a crash yet.

There are no graphical issues at all, no framerate issues. It's amazing. It works better now than it ever did for me in the past, and KOMAT has even added 24-bit colours.
Here is his website, with all the fixes. / Here is KOMAT's thread on KlingonAcademy.com There is one issue, however. If, like me, you are using a 64x OS, then you'll have trouble running the official 1.02 patch, which is required for KOMAT's fixes to work. However, I was able to get around this by opening the patch self-extractor with WinRAR and just copying the files into the KA main directory. 06DEC2014 I am not associated in any way with any of the web-sites mentioned in these instructions. I assume no responsibility for issues that may result from following these instructions (though my computers have suffered not harm), nor am I endorsing any illegal activity and am assuming that you are using legally purchased game CD’s to make this procedure work. This solution works for both Star Trek Starfleet Academy (ST SFA) and Star Trek Klingon Academy (ST KA), solving the 'flashing starfield' issue as a result of modern graphics cards and will slow the computer down to make them playable on faster, new computers.
These instructions result in both games playing well on my Win7, 32 Bit, Quad-Core, 1GB RAM Radeon Video Card. I realize that these games are the intellectual property of Paramount, Interplay, and Viacom, but the games are at least 18 years old, abandoned by the publishers (in that post-distribution date, no updates were provided.) The games can run on modern computers using the following instructions, thus no re-writing of game code is necessary (though the A.I. Of computer controlled ships could be improved.they tend to ram you, and fail to “break contact” even when their shields are above 90 percent.it seems this would be a technique when shields are low and “taking the opponent out with you” is the last strategybut I digress), the only issue to be solved for distribution would be: packaging for easy installation, solving the “flashing starfield issue”, and slowing the game or computer down (all of which are solved with these instructions). The publisher could make a bit of money for minimal work by making these games available on STEAM or GOOD OLD GAMES dot COM for say $10.00 per copy.I suspect they both would sell well, considering the number of web-sites that have people asking how to make these games playable. Following the steps below will make both games entirely playable from the hard drive with no discs in the CD tray. You must have the original game CD's or download ISO images and burn them to CD from: old-games dot com.
They have reasonable prices for one day and 30 day access. Install either game from DISC 1 to the hard drive, allowing them to install to their default selected location (you will need all the game discs to continue). Each game will take up about 3.10 GB of space. After following all the remaining steps, you can burn the installed game’s sub-directory to DVD for easy installation should your hard drive fail, or if you want to copy the entire game to another computer. Copy each of the remaining discs MOVIE files (ST SFA discs 2-5 1996-97 AND Checkov's Lost Mission Disc 1998 (Install Checkov’s disc, then copy the discs MOVIE sub-directories into the hard drive’s game MOVIE sub-directorythis also updates the game to v1.20 solving the Joystick issue) or (ST KA discs 2-6 2000, search the internet and install the v1.02 patch), to the respective game’s hard drive MOVIES sub-directory. *having followed Step 1, the MOVIES sub-directory on the hard drive should be in: ST SFA: C: Program Files Interplay Starfleet Academy Movies ST KA: C: Program Files 14 Degrees East Klingon Academy Movies **recommend searching the internet and installing game patch to v1.02 **As a bonus, the ST SFA game includes a DEMO MOVIE of SECRET OF VULCAN FURY, a game which was never published, though it looked interesting.
