For NW, the NA community is still alive and well, and there're a number of good servers. The EU side of things isn't quite as good, but there are still servers, regiments, and events.

NW is super fun, and I highly recommend it. Warband is also still pretty well populated. I don't get over there that much, but when I last did, there was a good selection of servers with good populations. Even if you don't find the multiplayer community to your liking, Warband is an excellent choice because there are so many good mods for it.

The reason you swing slower is because of your internet connection (Higher ping/latency), i found that out while i hosted a game. My mate joined, i could swing and move alot faster than him. Not sure why that is.it even said is ping was only 56, swapped over, same thing happend to me.
